Dans is bewegen met ademhaling
The body is a musical instrument; the purpose of dance is to tune its strings and warm its skin…allowing the spirit of place to sing the ancient hymns. Everyone can dance, it is a natural state. Dance is simply allowing the body to move the way it wants to, without restraints – to the rhythm of one’s breath.
Music can help the dancer get deeper into her dance or lift her higher, but dance can also happen in stillness. If we listen close enough, we hear music everywhere… the sounds of nature, the ticking of a clock combined with the sound of a washing machine; even traffic could sound like water waves – if we choose to hear that.

Goddess dance (EN)
Seasonal retreats (conducted in English) will be offered beginning 2019 at Maskan Aat [a yurt in a forest south of the Netherlands.]
The retreats will be led by myself – Lana Nasser or/and guest dancers.
I’ve been leading dance workshops since 1995 under titles like: Dance of the serpent, Dancing from the Inside-Out, Not-Belly Dance, The Path of Enchantment, and Awakening the Sacred Feminine.
The workshops utilize Middle Eastern dance, breathing exercises, visualization, goddess stories, and dream-work, towards self-awareness and body-intelligence, finding one’s natural inherent ability to move and discovering the joy of movement.
The retreats are open to women of all ages, with no dance experience necessary… only a body and a willingness to move it, and a desire to connect with your sensuality and inner woman power.
Join the maling list to receive updates on upcoming retreats, and feel free to send me an e-mail if you’d like more information or if you’d like to offer a dance retreat at Maskan Aat.

Dance as spiritual practice
I was not officially trained as a dancer, but I have been doing it all my life. Dance has been-and continues to be- my psychotherapist, my physiotherapist and my solace. Dancing grounds me and raises me high…. It starts with circular movements from the center of the body and spirals out and then back in.
The spirit sits in the belly, that is literal and symbolic. It is the seat of passion and fear – the place of creation. Blocked energy causes depression and sucks away the life force. Dance can release it.
Dancing with the goddess … from Inanna and Isis, to al-Lat, Ishtar, and Aphrodite… Dancing with the inner goddess: an ecstatic feeling.
